The Train will pass inside Villanova which is the extension of Cagliari towards the countryside. This part of the town, known as the garden quarter, was residence of people coming to Cagliari looking for fortune or for a job. This district developed quickly and it was very important from the religious point of view too. It was here that the Holy Week celebrations were born and for this reason there are a lot of churches, cloisters and monasteries. Along the way we will pass in front of San Domenico’s and San Giacomo’s churches. Then the train will go along the Terrapieno and it will get down Via Ospedale after crossing the defensive walls that surround Castello.
